Hon. P. Fraser, a petition, signed by 437 beneficiaries, seekinl the re- peal of section 19 of the Na ve Put-poses Act, 1835, under which, it was stated the annual Antals ofOre ands had been drastically reduCed. A clause in the petition called for an early inquiry into the position by the Government. The Prime Minister promised early consideration of the petition, stating that a fair deal for both owners and lessees would 'nave to be assured. Mr. Fraser, who was accompanied by the four Maori members of Parliament and representatives of the Native Affairs Department attended in the portfolio of acting Minister in charge of Native 4fiVolicTs'u7 Pr'&quot; at the  Principal Complaint. The first action wee taken by way of a petition signed by 564 beneficiaries and was presented by the Beneficiaries Assooiation of the fleet coast Lemma. The next move was a petition by Haniahuna Piro and 80 others. This was presented in 1941, it is Petition No. 49 of that year. The present petition is in similar terms to that presented by Rangihuna. Further signatures are being taken at present. The matter hoe not been pressed during recent years on account of the War and we should not be blamed for the delay.
