Greenstone is a suite of software for building and distributing digital
library collections. It provides a new way of organizing information and
publishing it on the Internet or on CD-ROM.  Greenstone is produced by the
<b>New Zealand Digital Library Project</b> at the <b>University of
Waikato</b>, and developed and distributed in cooperation with
<b>UNESCO</b> and the <b>Human Info NGO</b>.  It is <b>open-source,

Users work with a modified version of the Greenstone Librarian Interface but do not need to have Greenstone running locally. Multiple users can collaborate on the same collection (though not at the same time). <a href="http://www.cs.waikato.ac.nz/~mdewsnip/greenstone/west-yorkshire/remote-greenstone.html">Here</a> are details of an experimental version that you can download (<a href="http://prdownload.berlios.de/gsdl-esdoc/gsdlremoto.pdf">En Español</a>).

Greenstone 3 is a complete redesign of Greenstone, with version 3.01 released on <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/greenstone3">sourceforge</a> in November 2005. This is our research version and is still incomplete; the production version (Greenstone 2) is recommended for almost all users (and is still being developed and improved). Greenstone 2.50 also includes the new (and already very popular) PagedImgPlug plugin for
processing sequences of page images, a new classifier that displays a
collage of the images in a collection, provision for incremental updates

The manuscript is one of the most important samples of Greek music heritage.}
