Imagemagick src code failed to compile on Rata when CC flags are set to use clang compiler, as this is not found. Dr Bainbridge found the change to clang had helped ensure successful compilation on different mac machines earlier, but has decided that using the default gcc may yet be the way to proceed if imagemagick successfully with this on Rata which it did.
