ABCD ISIS enhancement

Description

Renate is using databases from ABCD, a variant of ISIS. It has the same database format as CDS/ISIS but a different FDT format.

Can we modify the isis-gdl program to support this?

I suggest you to try JISIS from UNESCO. Regards,

Hi Renate

We use a third party program, ISIS-GDL, for reading CDS/ISIS databases. This was provided to us from UNESCO in 2003, and modified to run under linux. This is the program that doesn't work in a 64 bit environment.

I see that we have two isis related tickets in trac: http://trac.greenstone.org/ticket/827:Can we modify isis-gdl to work with your ABCD databases http://trac.greenstone.org/ticket/826:Modify isis-gdl to work in 64 bit mode.

I am sorry but these things will probably have low priority unless a large number of people requested them, or if someone came up with some funding for it.

Can you export directly from your ABCD isis into any other form that will be ingested by greenstone? Otherwise, I guess you'll have to explode on your old 32 bit version, and transfer the exploded files to the 64bit version. Not ideal, I know. Sorry I couldn't be of more help,

Regards, Katherine

THE ABCD IMPLEMENTATION OF ISIS INDEED RUNS ON 64 BITLINUX. ABCD uses ISIS databases in the background and uses the 64 bit cisis

and 64 bit wxis utilities for the manipulation of the databases.

It is only the explode function from Greenstone that does not

work. I do not have a 64 bit Windows machine to test explode on it.

Any suggestions. Regards Renate

Renate,

The short answer is that it does not work on 64 bit Linux but

does on 64 bit Windows.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
