12 | DESCRIPTION
---|
13 | Pdfinfo prints the contents of the 'Info' dictionary (plus some other
---|
14 | useful information) from a Portable Document Format (PDF) file.
---|
15 |
---|
16 | The 'Info' dictionary contains the following values:
---|
17 |
---|
18 | title
---|
19 | subject
---|
20 | keywords
---|
21 | author
---|
22 | creator
---|
23 | producer
---|
24 | creation date
---|
25 | modification date
---|
26 |
---|
27 | In addition, the following information is printed:
---|
28 |
---|
29 | tagged (yes/no)
---|
30 | form (AcroForm / static XFA / dynamic XFA / none)
---|
31 | page count
---|
32 | encrypted flag (yes/no)
---|
33 | print and copy permissions (if encrypted)
---|
34 | page size and rotation
---|
35 | file size
---|
36 | linearized (yes/no)
---|
37 | PDF version
---|
38 | metadata (only if requested)
---|
39 |
---|
40 | CONFIGURATION FILE
---|
41 | Pdfinfo reads a configuration file at startup. It first tries to find
---|
42 | the user's private config file, ~/.xpdfrc. If that doesn't exist, it
---|
43 | looks for a system-wide config file, typically /usr/local/etc/xpdfrc
---|
44 | (but this location can be changed when pdfinfo is built). See the
---|
45 | xpdfrc(5) man page for details.
---|
46 |
---|
47 | OPTIONS
---|
48 | Many of the following options can be set with configuration file com-
---|
49 | mands. These are listed in square brackets with the description of the
---|
50 | corresponding command line option.
---|
51 |
---|
52 | -f number
---|
53 | Specifies the first page to examine. If multiple pages are
---|
54 | requested using the "-f" and "-l" options, the size of each
---|
55 | requested page (and, optionally, the bounding boxes for each
---|
56 | requested page) are printed. Otherwise, only page one is exam-
---|
57 | ined.
---|
58 |
---|
59 | -l number
---|
60 | Specifies the last page to examine.
---|
61 |
---|
62 | -box Prints the page box bounding boxes: MediaBox, CropBox, BleedBox,
---|
63 | TrimBox, and ArtBox.
---|
64 |
---|
65 | -meta Prints document-level metadata. (This is the "Metadata" stream
---|
66 | from the PDF file's Catalog object.)
---|
67 |
---|
68 | -rawdates
---|
69 | Prints the raw (undecoded) date strings, directly from the PDF
---|
70 | file.
---|
71 |
---|
72 | -enc encoding-name
---|
73 | Sets the encoding to use for text output. The encoding-name
---|
74 | must be defined with the unicodeMap command (see xpdfrc(5)).
---|
75 | This defaults to "Latin1" (which is a built-in encoding). [con-
---|
76 | fig file: textEncoding]
---|
77 |
---|
78 | -opw password
---|
79 | Specify the owner password for the PDF file. Providing this
---|
80 | will bypass all security restrictions.
---|
81 |
---|
82 | -upw password
---|
83 | Specify the user password for the PDF file.
---|
84 |
---|
85 | -cfg config-file
---|
86 | Read config-file in place of ~/.xpdfrc or the system-wide config
---|
87 | file.
---|
88 |
---|
89 | -v Print copyright and version information.
---|
90 |
---|
91 | -h Print usage information. (-help and --help are equivalent.)
---|
92 |
---|
93 | EXIT CODES
---|
94 | The Xpdf tools use the following exit codes:
---|
95 |
---|
96 | 0 No error.
---|
97 |
---|
98 | 1 Error opening a PDF file.
---|

---|
100 | 2 Error opening an output file.
---|
